The player shows a black screen or just says "loading" when I try to watch on HOOQ using Chrome

Oh no! Is the HOOQ player stuck on a black screen or the “loading” screen? Sorry about that! :(

The black screen you're seeing is more of a visual error, which makes you think that the player is stuck, but the player is actually preparing playback in the background. However, this should only last for 30 seconds. If it's more than that, simply do the following and it will work like magic! :)
  1. Make sure that your Chrome browser is updated to the latest version.
  2. Set your computer to the correct time zone.
